Let's kick off the 2020's with a coffee date!
If you’re new here, this is a seasonal post where I dish about all of the (indulgently unimportant!) things that haven't been covered in our regularly scheduled food/home posts. Like we’re real-life friends chatting over coffee.
where have you been all my life? – they sell parchment paper precut to sheet pan size and - not to exaggerate - it is changing my life.
what we’re watching – saw the new Little Women and can’t stop thinking about it. I maybe even like it more than my beloved 90’s version? Such a heartwarming picture of simple domesticity. Also it has made me want to wallpaper EVERYTHING IN MY LIFE.
oh, baby - these make bath time fun!
target is my love language – this maybe is very ‘college’ of me, but jersey sheets are my favorite. Cozy in all weather, without heavy-duty overheating in milder temperatures (still love you, though, flannel sheets).
celebrate the seasons – I think the key to enjoying Midwestern winters is having cozy rituals that you enjoy. Candles, good books, soft blankets, warm drinks, fun board games (here are some favorites), and lots of comfort foods are how I get through.
Oh, and daily use of the best winter boots I have ever owned.
Also, we are resurrecting Sunday Soup Night and it feels so good!
i never thought i'd say this, but... – abandoning all resolve and have decided to put our Christmas tree up before Thanksgiving this year. It is so much work to put up/take down! I want to enjoy it longer.
basic things – The hair dryer that is making all of my hair dreams come true.
just for fun - I've been debating getting back into sourdough bread baking. Currently weighing my desire for warm, homemade sourdough against my aversion to nurturing a high-maintenance starter.
looking ahead - I love the low-key holidays this time of year. They feel extra fun to celebrate because there is zero expectation. Why not make a big deal out of Groundhog Day?? Also, getting festive with this Valentine’s pizza, and counting down the days until we eat this Guinness beef stew for St. Patrick’s Day!
Happy winter!
