Butterscotch Pudding Cups

Individual cups of homemade butterscotch pudding get topped with whipped cream and chocolate shavings for a cute and crowd-pleasing dessert!

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk, heated
  • 3 egg yolks, lightly beaten
  • 3 tablespoons butter, cut into pieces
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons powdered sugar
  • Chocolate shavings


  • Combine brown sugar, cornstarch, salt, milk, and egg yolks in a medium saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat and cook 1-2 minutes longer, until thickened.
    Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla. Divide between 6 dessert cups or jars.
    Beat together heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form. Spread or pipe on pudding cups and sprinkle with chocolate shavings. Refrigerate at least an hour prior to serving.
