We bought a house! Where I am sitting right now writing this post and pinching myself because I'm still not totally sure it's all real.
The house buying process moved at warp speed for us, much to the chagrin of... anyone else who has been in any way involved in the current housing market.
Here's an idea of how quickly things moved:
Wednesday: Call a realtor to tell him we'd like to start looking later in the summer.
Saturday: Go to our first (and only) showing.
Monday: Put in an offer and get accepted.
We are so happy! I thought the process was sure to take at least a few months, and was already bracing to get outbid and experience the disappointment of seeing a house you've formed an emotional attachment to slip away.
And the house! It is a dream. A 100+ year old craftsman bungalow that's been really well cared for. I love the woodwork, the porches, all of the big windows, and going from 1,000 square feet to almost 2,000 (with a basement! and a garage!) feels so liberating.
We're excited for all the projects we'll get to do (now unconstrained by a lease agreement!), but for now we're in the unpacking phase of "where did we put our towels?", so please accept these photos in the meantime.
We love you, house!
