If you’re new here, this is a seasonal post where I tell you all the things I need to tell you that haven’t come up in our regularly scheduled food/home posts. They are all indulgently unimportant! But, this is like we’re real-life friends getting coffee together and catching up. So get yourself a drink and let's dish!
where have you been all my life? - I am very into the jumpsuit trend, and just got this loungewear version. There are pockets. I live in it. If you see me and I’m not wearing it, it is almost definitely because it's being washed.
what we’re watching - Riverdale! People have been telling me to watch this for years and I’ve always thought, “eh, I don’t really like the CW.” Then we watched season 1 and it was so good! Then we started season 2 and it was… exactly what I had feared a CW show would be. Still feeling like I owe it to season 1 to finish the series.
target is my love language - Big earrings are my go-to when I want to feel dressed up without really getting dressed up, and everything SUGARFIX is so good. I hope tassel earrings never go out of style, because they are FUN.
celebrate the seasons - Seasonal eating is my favorite and I am so, so ready for comfort food weather. Most looking forward to eating this easy cassoulet, pumpkin chili, baked applesauce, copious amounts of this apple dip, and pumpkin cheesecake.
unpopular opinion - Tried the billie razor and hated it. The Instagram ads finally wore me down and if you recall, I was in dire need of a new one. Their packaging was 10/10, but the razor was bad. I feel like I majorly fell for good marketing here, but it’s pretty much the quality of a disposable. (If you were wondering, I’m back to using my old Venus. And yes, it has completely broken and is now just a cartridge on the tiniest nub of a handle. Using it is a true test of my fine motor skills. Josh is about to have an intervention.)
basic things - I usually drink one pumpkin spice latte per year to be festive, remember that I don’t like pumpkin spice lattes, and then move on with my life until the next fall. But! Starbucks came out with a pumpkin cold brew this year and it is PERFECT. So satisfying on a warm fall day. I get it without sweetener and it’s my ideal combo of strong coffee, a lot of cream, and heavy fall spices. Very excited to be participating fully in PSL season.
looking ahead - I cannot remember a year that I’ve been more excited for fall than I am currently. Maybe it’s because we didn’t feel like we got much of a fall in Virginia last year? We’re unclear if that’s because we were in the city or because Michigan trees are just objectively BETTER at fall foliage. But either way, we’re excited! Flannel sheets! SWEATERS! living in slippers all my waking hours! candles on candles on candles!
Happy fall!!
