So excited it's spring! I can't believe it's been a whole year already since spring of 2020 (does it feel more like 2 months? or 6 years? still can't decide), but spring is my favorite and I'm happy it's here again. So let's kick off the season by talking about off topic things and drinking coffee!
Garden goals - Every year I talk a big talk about a summer garden, and it is all feeling very doable this year thanks to this book.
Not a fashion blogger, but... - Target is meeting all of my needs for a good layering piece that comes in lots of colors and looks good with everything. Plus, only $12! The mock neck/short sleeve combo is so right for springtime weather.
IKEA! - Realizing how much I am always reaching for this wooden board as a platter/cheeseboard/pb+j assembly surface/cutting board. Nice enough to be out on the countertop for easy access. And it is inexpensive for a wooden cutting board!
Low maintenance mani - For when you want to look polished but don't have time to wait for polish to dry, this buffing system is good! A really easy DIY manicure and I cannot adequately describe how nice it is to not deal with wet nails or polish chips.
The war against crumbs - It's a perfect broom! I don't want to overhype this but it's my most exciting purchase of 2021 so far. A collapsible broom handle with lots of different attachment heads. It's easy to store in a cabinet but also has a really good modern design so I don't even mind it being out. Having the right tools in the right place makes cleaning so much easier, you know?
Tea time - I have a soft spot for classic British kitchenwares and this electric kettle is no exception. It's currently in heavy use for tea and hot chocolate and I love the temperature gauge feature even more than expected. So useful for heating water to kid temperature or just generally preventing anyone from burning their mouth with too-hot water.
What we're making this spring!
- An easy sheet pan pork with baby potatoes + green beans - It's so good for spring!
- Ham bone soup - Easter is coming which means ham which means a leftover ham bone which means SOUP.
- One-bowl blueberry muffins - With fresh berries, of course.
- Lemon bars - Just a really satisfying dessert that's good year-round but feels so fresh for spring.
- Chili lime flank steak - I am 100% ready for grilling season and have missed this flank steak all winter long!
Happy spring!
