2022 was a big year for non-house reasons, but even so, a decent number of house projects got checked off our list!
If you remember, we started off the year with an ambitious line up of things to get done.
Here's what actually happened:
Painting all the walls!- I did kind of an unbelievable amount of painting this year. All the bedrooms, the living room, foyer, hallway, and most challenging was the stairwell.Getting rid of the Venetian blinds- Checking this off because so much progress was made! There are only 4 windows in the entire house that still sport their Venetian blinds.Removing carpet + refinishing the hardwood floors- Maybe my favorite thing of the entire year? I still cannot get over how amazing our floors are!- Painting the exterior - We got a quote for this in the spring, stared in disbelief at how many zeros there were, then decided to put it on the back burner for a while.
A cut flower garden/ general landscaping - Grew flowers as big as our heads in the summer! Did nothing for the landscaping.A makeover for our bedroom- I painted and we rearranged furniture, but it still doesn't seem right. I'm checking it off for now but probably this will be put back on the list.- Making the side porch nice - We've fully embraced using this as a storage zone, so if anything, it's looking worse than this time last year.
Figuring out the living room- Still have big changes to make like furniture and lighting, but feeling like there's a solid plan! Plus, we have a rug, which kind of felt like the hardest part.- A playroom in the basement - Big nope! Had to reallocate bedrooms in preparation for the baby, so Josh's office got moved to what would have been the play area.
Not on the list, but worth a mention is all the Facebook marketplace and garage sale shopping I did! Our house is way more furnished than this time last year.
By far my best purchase of the year (because I know you were wondering) was this green drop leaf table that's now on our front porch.
We ate almost every meal at it this summer and it felt like a picnic. I had planned to paint it but now I don't know... I'm finding that green kind of endearing!
I am really happy with what got done! Even looking at pictures from the spring, it looks like a completely different house now.
Hooray for 2022! Things are really coming together!
