It is a prevailing mystery of our time that both toast and pizza are incredibly popular and yet people are not eating French bread pizza ALL THE TIME.
French bread pizza is the ultimate i'm trying to go one more day without a grocery trip meal. Got bread and marinara and cheese? You can make yourself some pizza. And when done right, it is so good!
I should say that my love for French bread pizza began with the frozen variety, which has never done me wrong. Always satisfying in a pinch. But they're better homemade.
HOW TO MAKE FRENCH BREAD PIZZA THAT ISN'T SOGGY
The main reason I like French bread pizza better homemade: the soggy issue. The key to avoiding soggy bread in a French bread pizza is to toast the bread before adding any pizza ingredients, which obviously is not possible with the straight-from-the-box variety.
The baguette here is sliced down the middle and brushed lightly with seasoned olive oil and then baked for 10 minutes to crisp up before adding sauce and cheese. It makes all the difference!
